The Albyn School, Lower School curriculum

School curriculum is guided by the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence. For history, geography, science and RME the school teaches the cross-curricular topic-based International Primary Curriculum from P1 to P7. The curriculum also includes PSHE, French, Spanish, Mandarin. Since the school’s merger with the Total French School, it has offered a bilingual curriculum for French nationals based on the principles of the Mission Laïque Française. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

Specialist teachers for sport and music throughout, for French from Primary 3, for art from Primary 5, and for most subjects in Primary 7.

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Primary 3.

The Arts at Albyn School, Lower School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Drama is part of the co-curriculum. All pupils learn an instrument in class and half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from P3. Choir, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.
