Bromsgrove Preparatory School is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys and girls (50%/50%) between the ages of 2 and 13 years. Boarding from Year 3 for the 10% of pupils who board. 85% are full boarders and 15% are weekly or flexi boarders. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has an academically selective admissions policy. It is the prep school to Bromsgrove School, an all-through school to age 18. Bromsgrove Preparatory School fees range from £3,918 (Rec) to £7,320 per term (2025/26). Full boarding fees range from £11,772 to £14,520 per term. Fees include VAT and lunches.

Bromsgrove Preparatory School is three form entry rising to four then six from Year 7, and has an average class size of 19 pupils.

Leavers' destinations

Most Bromsgrove Prep pupils move up to the senior school in Year 8. Offers are made after assessments in Year 6.

The Bromsgrove Preparatory School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHEE, French, Spanish, German, Latin. The school teaches a thematic ‘creative’ curriculum through to Year 4 where subjects other than PE, maths, French, and RE are taught within a termly cross-curricular theme. Subjects are taught separately from Year 5. The school offers each child a handful of extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

Sport at Bromsgrove Preparatory School

School offers over 20 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and an extensive extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in athletics, cross country, golf, hockey, netball, rugby 7s, swimming.

The Arts at Bromsgrove Preparatory School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. The school won the Barnardo’s National Choral Competition (U12) in 2019. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.
