School fundamentals

Cranmore Preparatory School is an independent prep day school for boys between the ages of 5 and 11 years. It has a co-ed nursery and Reception onsite, shared with St Teresa’s School Effingham. From 2024-28 Nursery and Pre-prep will transfer to Manor House Prep, as Cranmore Prep becomes a boys-only 7-11 prep. It is a Roman Catholic school, open to all faiths and none. The school has a non-selective admissions policy. It is the prep school to the new Cranmore Senior School, an all-through school to 16 with a co-ed 6th form at St Teresa’s Effingham. It is a member of the Effingham Schools Trust. Cranmore Preparatory School fees range from £5,280 (Rec) to £7,230 per term (2025/26). Fees include VAT but exclude lunches.

Average class size

Cranmore Preparatory School has three classes per year and an average class size of 15 pupils.

Leavers' destinations

Leavers’ destination schools for Cranmore School pupils have traditionally been one of 15 schools, in particular, St John’s Leatherhead (40% of leavers), Reigate Grammar (10-15%), and City of London Freemen’s (10-15%). 50% of pupils left after Year 6, the rest staying on to Year 8. Now that the school has its own boys senior department to age 16, girls can transfer to St Teresa’s Effingham at 11+, that may change. 25% of pupils win awards and scholarships.

The Cranmore Preparatory School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHE, reasoning, Reasoning and Thinking Skills, French, Spanish, Latin. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers, Forest School for all year groups and residential trips from Year 5.

Sport at Cranmore Preparatory School

School is one of the 50 prep schools with the most extensive sports offers in the UK. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in athletics, rugby 7s, sailing, swimming.

The Arts at Cranmore Preparatory School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and two-thirds take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Five choirs, orchestra and up to 10 instrument ensembles. The school offers each pupil over 5 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

Wraparound care from 8.00am to 6.00pm. Nursery open for 50 weeks of the year.
