School fundamentals

City Junior School is an independent prep day school for boys and girls (50%/50%) between the ages of 7 and 11 years. The school has an academically selective admissions policy. It is the junior division of City of London School for Girls, an all-through school to age 18. City Junior School fees are £9,810 per term (2025/26). Fees include VAT and lunches.

Average class size

City Junior School will be three-form entry, with an average class size of 24 pupils.

Leavers' destinations

All City Junior School pupils are expected to move seamlessly to the two City of London School or City of London School for Girls at the of Year 6. There is no entrance exam for City Junior School pupils.

The City Junior School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum but also includes PSHCEE, French, Spanish, German, Mandarin, Latin. The curriculum is broadened by two to four options per year including orchestra, debating, creative arts, philosophy, entrepreneurship, history of art, and Greek mythology. The school offers each child a handful of extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips from Year 3.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music and languages throughout, and for most subjects from Year 5.

Sport at City Junior School

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Representative teams in major sports from Year 3.

The Arts at City Junior School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and two-thirds take extra-curricular instrument lessons. Two choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care from 7.30am to 6.15pm.
