Sandroyd School is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys and girls (50%/50%) between the ages of 2 and 13 years. Boarding from Year 3 for the 60% of pupils who board. 50% are full boarders and 50% are weekly or flexi boarders. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has a non-selective admissions policy. It is a standalone prep school, not tied to any one senior school. Sandroyd School fees range from £3,715 (Rec) to £8,995 per term (2024/25). Full boarding fees range from £8,745 to £11,045 per term. Fees exclude VAT and lunches.

Sandroyd School has one class per year to Year 3, two from Year 4, three from Year 6, and an average class size of 13 pupils.

Leavers' destinations

Over the past five years, destinations for Sandroyd School leavers have been one of 40 different boarding schools. The Sandroyd School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHCE, Reasoning and Thinking Skills, French, Spanish, Latin. Monday afternoon ‘Activities’ for Years 4 to 8 broaden the curriculum with academic, artistic, outdoor, and sporting pursuits. All pupils from Year 3 to 8 take part in ‘Sandroyd Strive’, a stretch and challenge programme. It encourages problem solving and lateral thinking, developing qualities such as self-confidence, creativity, courage, and resilience. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips from Year 7.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for music, languages and sport throughout, for art from Year 3, and for most subjects from Year 5.

Sport at Sandroyd School

School is one of the 50 prep schools with the most extensive sports offers in the UK. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in sailing.

The Arts at Sandroyd School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Curricular ballet to Year 4. Drama is part of the co-curriculum. All pupils learn an instrument in class and 80% take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three choirs, orchestra and 14 instrument ensembles. The school offers each pupil over 5 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.
