Halstead St Andrew’s School is the result of the merger of Halstead Prep and St Andrew’s School, completing in Sep 2023. Nursery to Year 2 are to be based at the former Halstead Prep site, Years 3 to 8 at the former St Andrew’s site. It is an independent prep day school for boys and girls (50%/50%) between the ages of 2 and 13 years. It is a Christian school, open to all faiths and none. The school has a non-selective admissions policy. It is a standalone prep school, not tied to any one senior school. Halstead St Andrew’s School fees range from £5,134 (Rec) to £7,412 per term (2025/26). Fees include VAT and lunches.

Leavers' destinations

In any given year, destinations for Halstead St Andrew’s School leavers will be one of 15 or so independent schools. Historically, 40-50% of St Andrew’s pupils stayed on to Year 8 with 20%-30% of pupils winning awards and scholarships to a senior school. The Halstead St Andrew's School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHE, reasoning, French, Spanish, Latin. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

Sport at Halstead St Andrew's School

School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in orienteering.

The Arts at Halstead St Andrew's School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and over half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three or four choirs, orchestra and one or two instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care from 7.30am to 6.00pm. Nursery open for 46 weeks of the year.
