Sutton High Prep School is the larger of two girls’ prep schools in Sutton, and the only Sutton prep that is part of an all-through school. School fundamentals

Sutton High Prep School is an independent prep day school for girls between the ages of 3 and 11 years. The school has an academically selective admissions policy from Year 1. It is the prep department of Sutton High School, an all-through school to age 18, and is a member of the Girls’ Day School Trust. Sutton High Prep School fees range from £5,470 (Rec) to £6,528 per term (2025/26). Fees include VAT but exclude lunches.

Average class size

Sutton High Prep School has two classes per year to Year 4, three classes from Year 5, and an average class size of 19 pupils.

Leavers' destinations

Most Sutton High Prep pupils move up to the senior school at the end of Year 6. Sutton High usually ranks in the top 10%-15% of independent schools by exam results.

The Sutton High Prep School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum with some additions and variations. There is much cross-curricular linking , in particular, the ‘Connected Curriculum’, which makes links between geography, history, art, and DT. The curriculum also includes PSHE, reasoning, French, Spanish, Latin. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips from Year 4.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music and languages throughout, for DT from Year 5, and for science, art, and computing in Year 6.

Sport at Sutton High Prep School

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3.

The Arts at Sutton High Prep School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Two choirs, orchestra and two instrument ensembles. The school offers each pupil over 5 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care from 7.30am to 6.30pm. Minibus service.
