Twyford School is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys and girls (60%/40%) between the ages of 2 and 13 years. Boarding from Year 5 for the 20% of pupils who board. All are weekly or flexi boarders. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has an academically selective admissions policy from Year 1. It is a standalone prep school, not tied to any one senior school. Twyford School fees range from £5,602 (Rec) to £9,978 per term (2025/26). Fees include VAT and lunches.

The Twyford School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum and also includes PSHEE, French, Latin. ‘Apprenticeships’ are a weekly curriculum broadening session(s) with over 20 options including languages, philosophy, Eco, fencing, poetry, photography. Each pupil may participate in over 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups and visiting speakers. Outdoor learning and pursuits for all pupils; ‘Come Rain Come Shine’, for pre-prep and ‘Twyford Explorers’ for prep. Includes adventure residentials from Year 3. Also, a Saturday Morning Activities Programme.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music, dance and languages throughout, and for most subjects from Year 5.

Sport at Twyford School

School offers over 20 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and an extensive extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in football, netball.

The Arts at Twyford School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Each pupil has a timetabled music lesson and a singing lesson. All pupils learn an instrument in class and 80% take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three choirs, orchestra and five instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

Wraparound care from 7.30am to 6.00pm. Facility for occasional boarding.
