Wimbledon High Junior School is an independent prep day school for girls between the ages of 4 and 11 years. The school has an academically selective admissions policy. It is the junior division of Wimbledon High School, an all-through school to age 18, and is a member of the Girls’ Day School Trust. Wimbledon High Junior School fees are £7,472 per term (2025/26). Fees include VAT but exclude lunches.

The Wimbledon High Junior School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum with additions and also includes PSHE, French, Spanish, German, Latin. School uses a thematic curriculum, ‘Adventum’ for all year groups. The aim is to blend knowledge and skills by linking subjects through philosophical themes. There is also an emphasis on STEAM and the school has two ‘scientists-in-residence’. It is a Microsost Showcase School to reflect the high degree of integration of digital learning in the curriculum. Each pupil may participate in over 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs. In recent years the school has enjoyed national tournament success in chess.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups and visiting speakers. ‘Wild Girls’ outdoor learning for all year groups. Residential trips from Year 5.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music, art, and languages throughout, for science from Year 1, and for English, maths, and computing from Year 3.

Sport at Wimbledon High Junior School

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in netball.

The Arts at Wimbledon High Junior School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and 80% take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Five choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.
