The Amesbury School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the ISEB curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHEE, reasoning, French, Spanish, Latin. In Years 7 and 8 the school teaches a more skills based curriculum, the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate, alongside the core ISEB curriculum subjects (maths, English, science) and/or senior school entrance curricula. It is a Microsost Showcase School to reflect the high degree of integration of digital learning in the curriculum. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips from Year 5. Forest School for the youngest pupils.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music, art, drama and languages throughout, for humanities and computing from Year 3, and for all subjects from Year 5.

Sport at Amesbury School

School offers over 15 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in judo, tennis.

The Arts at Amesbury School

Art, music, drama and dance are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. The school offers each pupil over 5 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

Wraparound care from 7.30am to 6.00pm. The nursery is open for 48 weeks per year.
