School fundamentals

Repton Prep is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys and girls (50%/50%) between the ages of 3 and 13 years. Boarding from Year 3 for the 10% of pupils who board. 60% are full boarders and 40% are weekly or flexi boarders. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has an academically selective admissions policy from Year 3. It is the junior division of Repton School, an all-through school to age 18. Repton Prep fees range from £4,975 (Rec) to £10,165 per term (2025/26). Full boarding fees range from £11,140 to £13,155 per term. Fees include VAT and lunches.

Average class size

Repton Prep has two or three classes per year rising to five and an average class size of 14 pupils.

Leavers' destinations

80%-90% of Prep pupils move up to Repton School at the end of Year 8. Otherwise, destination schools are typically Harrow School, Rugby School, Oundle School, and Shrewsbury School.

The Repton Prep curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and the ISEB Common Entrance curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHCE, French, Latin. Each pupil may participate in over 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups and visiting speakers. Field and cultural residentials start in Year 3. Outdoor education includes Forest School for pupils up to Year 4, and ‘Adventure Week’ residentials for Years 5 to 8 to develop independence, team building, and leadership.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for music, art, languages, computing, drama and sport throughout and for most subjects from Year 5.

Sport at Repton Prep

5 Games and 1 PE session per week. School is one of the 50 prep schools with the most extensive sports offers in the UK. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in athletics, football, hockey, skiing, swimming.

The Arts at Repton Prep

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. Each pupil may participate in up to 10 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

Wraparound care from 8.00am to 6.00pm. Facility for occasional boarding.
