Francis Holland Preparatory School is an independent prep day school for girls between the ages of 4 and 11 years. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has an academically selective admissions policy. It is the junior division of the two Francis Holland Schools, therefore an all-through school to age 18. Francis Holland Preparatory School fees range from £9,600 (Rec) to £10,524 per term (2025/26). Fees include VAT and lunches.

Leavers' destinations

At the end of Year 6, 30%-40% of Prep School pupils traditionally moved up to Francis Holland School, Sloane Square. Others, in their ones and twos, to other academically selective London day schools. Up to 20% of girls head to a boarding school.

The Francis Holland Preparatory School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum with some additions and variations. It also includes PSHE, reasoning, French, Spanish, Latin. History, geography and science taught through topic work up to Year 2. Higher order thinking skills for older pupils promoted through philosophy, debating and current affairs. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and residential trips from Year 5. Francis Holland Foresters is an outdoor learning programme for all year groups. The school also has an Eco-Schools Green Flag accreditation.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for art, sport, music, science and ballet from Reception, and for languages and computing from Year 3.

Sport at Francis Holland Preparatory School

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3.

The Arts at Francis Holland Preparatory School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils as is drama from Year 2. Ballet is taught from Reception to Year 3. All pupils learn an instrument in class and 80% take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Two choirs, an orchestra and some instrument ensembles. The school offers each pupil over 5 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care

School day is from 8.00am to 3.30pm. After school activities can extend the day to 4.30/5.00pm.
