King’s Hawford is an independent prep day school for boys and girls (50%/50%) between the ages of 2 and 11 years. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has a non-selective admissions policy. It is the junior division of The King’s School, an all-through school to age 18. King’s Hawford fees range from £3,594 (Rec) to £6,371 per term (2025/26). Fees include VAT but exclude lunches.

The King's Hawford curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and also includes PSHCE, reasoning, French, Spanish, German. Cross curricular learning through theme days and weeks. Weekly Skills Afternoon for Years 3 to 6 broadens the curriculum with hobbies and crafts. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups and visiting speakers. Forest School to Year 2, and a timetabled outdoor learning programme from Year 3. Learning Outside the Classroom accredited. Residential trips from Year 2.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music and languages throughout, for art and DT from Year 1, and for computing from Year 3.

Sport at King's Hawford

School offers over 20 different sports through the year, through both the curriculum and an extensive extra-curriculum. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in athletics, sailing, swimming.

The Arts at King's Hawford

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Drama is part of the English and co-curriculum. All pupils learn an instrument in class and nearly all take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Three choirs, orchestra and several instrument ensembles. The school is one of the top 50 UK prep schools for the breadth of its creative and performing arts extra-curriculum. Artsmark Gold accreditation.
