Pocklington Prep School is an independent prep day and boarding school for boys and girls (50%/50%) between the ages of 3 and 11 years. Boarding from Year 5 for the very small number of pupils who board. 90% are full boarders and 10% are weekly or flexi boarders. It is a Church of England school, open to all faiths and none. The school has a non-selective admissions policy. It is the prep school to Pocklington School, an all-through school to age 18. Pocklington Prep School fees range from £4,317 (Rec) to £6,585 per term (2025/26). Full boarding fees are £9,767 per term. Fees include VAT and lunches.

The Pocklington Prep School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and also includes PSHE, French, Spanish. The ‘Curiosity Project’ curriculum, to Year 4, is skills-based, cross-curricular, and addresses a ‘concept question’ every half term within the humanities, and, sometimes, other subjects. In addition, the daily post-lunch ‘Skills Sessions’ broaden the curriculum with a wide variety of activities. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

Specialist teachers for sport, music, art, and languages throughout, and for computing from Year 5.

Sport at Pocklington Prep School

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3.

The Arts at Pocklington Prep School

Art and music are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. Drama is part of the English and co-curriculum. All pupils learn an instrument in class and up to half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Choir, string orchestra, and some instrument ensembles. There are some extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care from 8.00am to 5.45pm or 8.00pm (Extended Day Option). School bus service.
