The Surbiton High Girls' Prep School curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum with some additions and variations. From Reception to Year 6 the school reinforces Claxton’s ‘Learning Habits’. The ‘connected’ curriculum links some subjects through cross-curricular topics. As well as National Curriculum subjects, the curriculum includes PSHE, French, Spanish. It is an Apple Distinguished School to reflect the high degree of integration of digital learning in the curriculum. Each pupil may participate in over 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

Specialist teachers for sport, music and languages throughout. Specialist teachers for maths, English, computing, art and science gradually introduced from Years 3 to 5.

Sport at Surbiton High Girls' Prep School

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in gymnastics.

The Arts at Surbiton High Girls' Prep School

Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and two-thirds take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Four choirs and 9 instrument ensembles. The school is one of the top 50 UK prep schools for the breadth of its creative and performing arts extra-curriculum.
