School fundamentals

Truro School Prep is an independent prep day school for boys and girls (60%/40%) between the ages of 3 and 11 years. It is also a Choir School. It is a Methodist school, open to all faiths and none. The school has an academically selective admissions policy from Year 3. It is the prep school to Truro School, an all-through school to age 18, and is a member of the Methodist Independent Schools Trust. Truro School Prep fees range from £4,181 (Rec) to £6,311 per term (2025/26). Fees include VAT but exclude lunches.

Average class size

Truro School Prep has two classes per year to Year 4, three classes from Year 5, and an average class size of 16 pupils.

The Truro School Prep curriculum

School curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and also includes PSHE, French, Spanish, German. The Truro School Prep Diploma in Year 6 recognises achievement in academics, creative and performing arts, sport, outdoor and Life Skills. The school offers each pupil between 5 and 10 different extra-curricular academic activities or hobby clubs.

There are regular educational trips for all year groups, visiting speakers and a residential trip in Year 6. Outdoor learning includes Forest School to Year 2, bushcraft activities from Year 3 and the John Muir Award for Year 5.

Specialist teaching

Specialist teachers for sport, music, drama and languages throughout, and for most subjects from Year 4.

Sport at Truro School Prep

School offers between 10 and 15 different sports over the course of the year. Competitive teams in major sports from Year 3. In recent years the school has enjoyed national success in fencing.

The Arts at Truro School Prep

School educates the choristers of Truro Cathedral. Art, music and drama are taught as discrete curricular subjects to all pupils. All pupils learn an instrument in class and half take extra-curricular instrument lessons from Year 3. Choir (in addition to the Cathedral choristers), orchestra and several instrument ensembles. The choir has a strong track record in national choral competitions. The school offers each pupil over 5 different extra-curricular creative and performing arts clubs.

Wraparound care from 7.45am to 6.15pm. Minibus service.
